How to adjust SuperCarve 2.0 trucks for more carve or stability

Most riders treat truck adjustment as a single decision: tighter for stability, looser for carve. On a normal single kingpin setup that is roughly true. On Evolve's SuperCarve 2.0 trucks it is not quite that simple, because you are not making one adjustment. You are making two, and they do different jobs.
Two kingpins, two separate decisions
SuperCarve 2.0 is a double kingpin truck, which means each truck has two pivot points instead of one. One kingpin sits nearer the board, the other nearer the road and wheels. Each has its own bushing pair, a board-side barrel bushing and a road-side cone bushing, and each nut can be wound in or out independently of the other.
This is why the truck feels deeper and smoother through a turn than a single kingpin setup. Instead of one spring doing all the work, you have two stages of movement that can be tuned separately. It also means a rider chasing more carve does not have to sacrifice all of their stability to get it, because the two ends of the truck are not locked to the same setting.
Start from a known baseline, not a guess
Before changing anything, set both kingpin nuts on both trucks so that two full threads are visible beyond each nut. This is the confirmed starting point Evolve uses when demonstrating the truck, and it gives you a neutral reference to adjust from in either direction. Do this on the front and rear truck so you are comparing like for like.
Once that baseline is set, stand on the board without riding it and rock your weight from heel to toe. You are not looking for a verdict yet, just a feel for whether the truck already leans loose, tight, or reasonably balanced for you. That feel is the thing you will be chasing or correcting with every adjustment that follows.
Loosening for carve, tightening for support
The mechanics are straightforward once you separate the two nuts in your head. Tightening a kingpin nut compresses the bushing further, which reduces how far the truck can turn and adds support. Loosening it does the opposite and frees up movement. Too tight and the board feels dead underfoot, resistant to lean into a turn. Too loose and it can feel vague or unpredictable, particularly as speed builds.
Where the double kingpin earns its keep is in how you distribute that tightness. A common approach is to keep the road-side nut a touch looser, which makes it easier to initiate a turn, while keeping the board-side nut tighter, which gives you support once you are leant deep into that turn. Evolve's own reference example runs two visible threads on the road side for easy turn initiation and four visible threads on the board side for support through the deeper part of the arc. That is one rider's example, not a rule, but it shows how the two ends can be doing genuinely different jobs.
If your priority is stability rather than carve depth, the adjustment runs the other way. Tightening both nuts, and particularly the road-side one, reduces how eagerly the truck wants to turn at all, which is what riders after a firmer, more locked-in feel at higher speed are usually chasing.
Test it properly before you trust it
Every change deserves two checks, not one. First the static test: back on the board, weight shifting heel to toe, feeling whether the change did what you expected. Second, and this matters, a short low-speed ride. Roll it out, run a few figure-eight turns so you are loading the truck heel side and toe side in quick succession, and see whether the change holds up once the board is actually moving.
Make small changes and retest rather than winding in a big adjustment and heading straight into fast riding. It is worth carrying the tool with you for the first few sessions on a new setup, because most riders end up walking a setting back slightly after the first real ride. That is normal tuning, not a sign you got it wrong the first time.
Where this actually matters on a board like the Stoke X
SuperCarve 2.0 trucks are fitted across several boards in the current lineup, and the Stoke X is one of them. It is worth calling out here specifically because of what the Stoke X is actually used for. This is a shorter, lighter board built for last-mile trips, campus riding and getting through a city commute without carrying much weight. That kind of riding rewards a truck you can genuinely tune to how you ride, not just how the board ships.
A rider commuting through flat, predictable stretches around inner Brisbane or Perth's coastal paths might prefer the looser, more carve-friendly setup, since low-speed manoeuvrability matters more than high-speed composure. Someone weaving through busier stretches of Sydney or Melbourne, where quick direction changes and a bit more predictability at speed both matter, might lean the setup the other way and tighten things up for a firmer, more settled feel. Neither is the correct answer. The double kingpin exists precisely so the same truck can serve both riders.
Riders taking the Stoke X along the Gold Coast's flatter beachside stretches will likely find the factory baseline already sits close to comfortable, since long, smooth sections do not demand much correction either way. It is the tighter, more technical urban riding where tuning starts to pay off.
Bushings are the next lever, but that is a separate job
Once you have the kingpin settings dialled in, bushing durometer is the other variable that shapes carve feel, and Evolve's own setup example pairs a softer bushing on the road side with a harder one on the board side, mirroring the same logic as the kingpin adjustment. That is worth knowing exists, but it is a different job to the one covered here and deserves its own attention rather than a rushed mention.
The honest takeaway is that SuperCarve 2.0 rewards patience more than it rewards a single perfect setting. Start from the two-thread baseline, decide honestly whether you want more carve or more support, adjust one kingpin at a time, and test it properly before you commit to it. Do that once and you will understand your own board better than any generic setting ever could.
